We recently reviewed two universal remote controls from
Oneforall. One of these is the URC 7556. A five in one remote control that can
connect all your devices. Taking control of your tv, vhs, dvd, satellites,
cable and even your amp. Of course most people won't use all these options of
devices, But its nice to know they are their when needed.
Universal remotes have been around for a long time and as
far as i can tell the only reason most people don't have one in there house is
because of the tiresome setting up process which are attached with getting a
universal remote control. Hitting a number of buttons then hitting in a code
and hoping it works isn't something that we are use to. Now a days, we expect
to get instructions which tell you precisely how to get your new device
working.
Unfortunately no one has yet to solve this problem. The URC
range is no different but it does its best to make it was easy as possible. The
usual mass of numbers in the back of the instruction Manuel is their. Theoretically
you could be up and running in space of 7 button presses. Sadly with a large
number of 4 digit codes with each manufactures this is rarely the case with universal
remotes. Only thing Oneforall could have done to help is add which tv of a manufacture
goes with which code.
So the URC 7556 can't stand out again any other remote to
make it self super easy to set up but once up and running the remote is wonderful
to use. It has a nice solid made feel to the remote. So when you replace it
with the quality of a sky remote you do not feel as if you've just down graded
you handset.
The added feature of it being able to learn new buttons from
your old remote means any controls of menu or other such things can easily be transferred
to spare buttons. This works fantastically well when comes to using the remote
for sky. As if you had just set sky up to control your volume of the tv. You
can easily pass this across to the URC 7556 saving you from revealingly
changing between sat and tv buttons for channel and volume changes.
