Three are leading the way for real on the move mobile internet.
With the help of HSDPA speed of up to 3.5mb are capable. The problem being that
it costs a hell of a lot to use the internet on your phone. And the megabytes
fly by when you connect your laptop to your phone.
Thankfully Three’s new mobile broadband modems are hear. We
got our hands on the ZTE MF622. The funkier looking of the two. In matte black
with lime green strip. Its stylish and flat making it easy to slip in your
pocket.
One of the best things about this is there is no real need for
a CD installer as it contains all the install files built into it as a USB
memory stick. Quick and painless install and your up and running in no time.
Simply pop in your Sim card and you will get a prompt to connect. Either asking
for a Pin if your Sim card requires it. Or nothing at all if you don’t. The
software that is installed can also be used to send texts which are a nice
little feature. Though most people might rarely use this.
Now this isn’t that ground breaking although it’s surprisingly
easy to set up and with the files include on the modem means you can just have
it with you and install it on a friend’s laptop any time you really need to get
online.
The contacts that come with it really give you a lot of
choices. From 12months to 24months contacts that change the price of the modem
itself from £99 for a non contact modem down to free for the £15 a month
packages on 18month contacts.
A choice of pay as you go, 1GB for £10 a month, 3GB for £15
a month or 7GB for £25. I feel the 3gb really hits the sweet spot for most
people. For a day to day use that gives you a nice 100mb a day to play with.
